Braintrust raises $36 million in Series A funding

Braintrust, a San Francisco-based company that helps businesses improve their AI products, raised $36 million in a Series A funding round.

The latest funding round brings Braintrust’s total funding to date to $45 million, at a $150 million post-money valuation.

The funding round was led by Andreessen Horowitz, with backing from several notable investors, including Elad Gil, Greylock, Basecase, and big names from the tech world like Greg Brockman of OpenAI, Bryan Helmig of Zapier, and others.

Braintrust offers a platform that simplifies the development of AI applications, especially those using large language models (LLMs). Their platform makes building software with AI more efficient and iterative. One of the key features they introduced is “functions,” which are tools, prompts, and scorers that users can directly integrate into their codebase. These can be easily pushed to the Braintrust platform for experimentation, testing, and deployment. The platform manages the backend processes like bundling and versioning automatically.

Braintrust intends to use the new funding to expand its operations and continue developing its platform to serve businesses building AI-powered applications. The company’s goal is to make AI development smoother and more accessible, providing developers with the tools they need to build, test, and deploy AI solutions more effectively.
