PlayAI, a provider of software infrastructure for developing voice AI applications, raised $21 million in Seed funding.
Kindred Ventures and 500 Global led the investment round with participation from Race Capital, Y Combinator, Soma Capital, Pioneer Fund, TRAC, and others.
PlayAI offers a software platform that enables businesses to create human-like AI voices for various applications. Their software platform utilizes large language models trained on extensive datasets, allowing for the generation of natural-sounding speech in multiple languages and accents. The platform is designed to facilitate the development of voice applications without the need for businesses to train their own models, making it a versatile tool for creating AI-driven voice agents.
As of today, PlayAI serves almost 40,000 customers, according to the official funding press release.
According to the press announcement, the fresh funding will help PlayAI fuel its vision to craft the voice of intelligence and be the cornerstone of voice-first human-computer interaction. The seed funds will also allow it to accelerate its research and development efforts, expand its global language and dialect coverage, and enable even more businesses to integrate natural voice communication into their products.
In the official funding announcement, Mahmoud Felfel, Co-Founder and CEO of PlayAI, said: “Speech as an interface is exploding in popularity, and we knew it was a massive opportunity from the get-go. Building voice agents that can converse like humans and autonomously handle complex tasks is no easy feat, and I’m immensely proud of what our team has achieved.”
“This funding will help us deliver our vision of powerful, emotive, and human-like voice interfaces for any application,” added Mahmoud Felfel.
